Artist Shanna Galloway Documents The Changing Sky Outside Her Hillside Home/Studio

First begun as color studies for a painting using pastels, Shanna Galloway has developed a series of photographs of skies and clouds with their ever-changing and expressive colors.

I welcome your interpretations.

  1. X marks the spot. Lots of drama here and love the transition from purples to pinks in the bottom swatch. Makes my fingers itchy just looking at it (I can feel the pleasure of rubbing the bite of the paper)

  2. I wonder if people not familiar with my blog would even see it as a sky.

  3. This has a lot of visual energy, driven by the X and the bold, contrasty shapes I can imagine high winds, clouds moving swiftly, leaves and dust being blown about at ground level, and maybe a thunderbolt in about half an hour.

  4. arf!: Great analysis. I could use some of that drama now. Our skies have been so uneventful.
