Artist Shanna Galloway Documents The Changing Sky Outside Her Hillside Home/Studio

First begun as color studies for a painting using pastels, Shanna Galloway has developed a series of photographs of skies and clouds with their ever-changing and expressive colors.

I welcome your interpretations.

  1. Shanna, have I told you about my mother's friend John Day, the Cloudman?
He was a lovely guy. He knew everything about clouds, yet understanding their science never made him cynical to their poetry. He wrote a book about clouds, which he signed for me and J. It's one of our treasures.

  2. Petrea: Thank you so much. I have the site up and will spend much time there enjoying it!

  3. yes, I can see why you would place this at the end of the series. It appears as if your looking out at the surface of the ocean and it's a shimmering blanket of gold

  4. Pasadena Adjacent is right on with her description of your cloud picture as looking at the surface of the ocean. Add those buttermilk clouds and wow!

  5. PasAdj: I hadn't thought of "ocean" before. Thanks for seeing that!

Dixie Jane: I thought you would see buttermilk. That's what we always called this type of sky.

  6. Funny, but I thought of the ocean, too!
