Artist Shanna Galloway Documents The Changing Sky Outside Her Hillside Home/Studio

First begun as color studies for a painting using pastels, Shanna Galloway has developed a series of photographs of skies and clouds with their ever-changing and expressive colors.

I welcome your interpretations.

  1. this one makes me think I'm Peter Pan with my arms outstretched moving through space at a angle

  2. Isn't that what they call mackerel sky?

  3. PasAdj: You are making these images more interesting than I thought they were. Love the Peter Pan reference!

Hiker: I haven't heard of the mackerel sky. We called this type of sky a buttermilk sky in Austin. Dixie Jane calls it that in her comment on the final photo. Regional difference maybe?

  4. Wow, this is gorgeous. I'd love to see it blown up wall size. (With people dancing in front of it!!!)

  5. How lovely to meet you at last.

  6. Hiker: Thanks for the link. You are so right about the mackerel sky. One source said that they are sometimes called a buttermilk sky - regionally.

Yes, it was lovely meeting you too.
