Artist Shanna Galloway Documents The Changing Sky Outside Her Hillside Home/Studio

First begun as color studies for a painting using pastels, Shanna Galloway has developed a series of photographs of skies and clouds with their ever-changing and expressive colors.

  3. PasAdj: You are making these images more interesting than I thought they were. Love the Peter Pan reference!

Hiker: I haven't heard of the mackerel sky. We called this type of sky a buttermilk sky in Austin. Dixie Jane calls it that in her comment on the final photo. Regional difference maybe?

  6. Hiker: Thanks for the link. You are so right about the mackerel sky. One source said that they are sometimes called a buttermilk sky - regionally.
